Position: Business Resiliency Specialist

Location: Long Beach, CA 90802

Duration: 6 months

Pay Rate: $70 – W2 ; $80 – C2C

Work Environment: Position is hybrid, with the expectation that the selected candidate will work onsite three days per week. Please note the onsite schedule is negotiable.

Detailed Position Summary:

The client is seeking a Digital Business Resiliency Specialist to lead critical initiatives in Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR). This role will be responsible for leading the adoption of a “resiliency” culture to help ensure that the client is protected from and able to absorb major threats to its operations. The person selected will work in partnership with other IM teams including the Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC), Service Desk, Business Application, and Technology Strategy & Architecture (TSA) teams. They will also be expected to collaborate with business leaders, risk management, physical security, facilities, maintenance, and executives to ensure critical business functions can continue during disruptions and recover effectively following incidents.

As the Business Resiliency Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the client can quickly recover and resume normal business operations after a major disruption, such as a natural disaster, cybersecurity incident, or other catastrophic event. Your goal will be to ensure our critical operations can withstand, adapt to, and rapidly recover from major disruptions—ranging from cyber incidents and technology failures to natural disasters and supply chain shocks. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the organization's business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, and operational resilience programs.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a “resiliency mindset” and show experience leading initiatives that produced proactive results. The candidate must have strong analytical skills, project management capabilities, risk assessment expertise, and stakeholder engagement skills to build organizational resilience and ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Lead and facilitate the development of comprehensive BIAs across business units to identify critical functions, business and IT dependencies, Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
• Design, document, and maintain actionable Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans that align with corporate standards and industry best practices. Work closely with the Disaster Recovery Analyst, Business Application (BA) Team, Network Operations Center (NOC), and Security Operations Center (SOC) teams to align continuity strategies with disaster recovery, infrastructure resilience, and cybersecurity protections.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify mission-critical systems, dependencies, operational vulnerabilities, single points of failure, and third-party vendor risks. Understand risks to operational delivery and develop recommendations and execution plans to reduce risk across the enterprise.
• Coordinate and lead tabletop exercises, disaster recovery drills, and crisis simulation games for Information Management - owned systems to validate response plans and evaluate team readiness. Create and publish After Action Reports (AAR) and document lessons learned following tests or realworld events, tracking corrective actions to closure.
• Ensure continuity strategies are integrated into daily operations, embedding recovery requirements into processes, vendor agreements, and technology initiatives.
• Develop and deliver resiliency training and awareness programs to ensure employees understand their roles during an emergency. Work closely with business teams to provide training and education on business continuity, business impact analysis, and operational resiliency concepts.
• Assist the Crisis Management Team during live disruptions, providing data, coordinating communications, and tracking response milestones. Administer and optimize business continuity software tools.
• Ensure the resiliency framework complies with relevant industry regulations, data privacy laws, and global standards (e.g., ISO 22301).

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Four-year college degree with a major in computer science, business information systems, risk management, emergency management or a closely related field.
• Six or more years’ experience in developing business resiliency frameworks, managing large-scale exercises, or building DR strategies in complex operational environments.
• Six or more years’ experience in Business Process Improvement, specifically in business process improvement and business impact analysis, with demonstrated ability to integrate recovery requirements into enterprise operations.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple overlapping project timelines, lead and facilitate meetings, communicate progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, and maintain documentation and reporting.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present technical risk concepts to non-technical business leaders.
• Familiarity with business continuity management software (e.g., Fusion Risk Management, Castellan, Everbridge, ServiceNow BCM).
• Certification as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) from DRI International.

Desired Skills/Knowledge

• Strong preference for candidates with management consulting background
• Certification as a Business Continuity Professional (e.g., CBCP, AMBCI, CRISC) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP).
• Demonstrated experience working in a team environment

Physical Requirements and Working Condition

Normally, employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking, viewing of monitors and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an office environment. Due to the current conditions, this is currently a telecommuting environment.
