About the role

Position Overview

OATS is seeking a passionate Technology Trainer to empower adults 60+ by helping them build digital skills and use technology to achieve their personal goals. Trainers deliver OATS curriculum, provide technology support, create a welcoming learning environment, and represent OATS and Senior Planet as brand ambassadors.

In-person classes typically meet twice a week for ten weeks, while virtual programs are primarily one-off sessions focused on specific technology topics. Trainer schedules vary each quarter.

Responsibilities

  • Teach technology courses virtually and in person using the OATS curriculum.
  • Support older adults with email, social media, online banking, and other everyday technology.
  • Create a comfortable, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Provide updates to Senior Planet hotlines and communicate regularly with OATS staff.
  • Coordinate with site staff, including site visits and graduations.
  • Make outbound calls to Senior Planet members and recruit participants as needed.
  • Collect surveys and evaluations and enter data into Salesforce.
  • Submit paperwork and maintain timely communication.
  • Participate in Trainer meetings, training events, and special projects.
  • Supervise volunteers as needed.
  • Provide front desk support, greet visitors, answer phones, and assist with class registration.
  • Represent and promote Senior Planet culture and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Excellent speaking and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly in English.
  • Experience teaching teenagers, adults, and/or seniors preferred.
  • Proficiency with Windows computers, iOS, social media, and common technology/devices.
  • Comfortable traveling to various senior/community centers as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a training team.
  • Strong time-management, patience, flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional work experience.

Work Environment: Part-time; virtual and in-person training. In-person work may require travel to various senior/community centers.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and common technology/devices
  • Ability to work with and teach older adults (60+)
  • Patience, flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a training team
  • Ability to travel to various senior/community centers as needed
  • Comfortable conducting both in-person and virtual training
  • Ability to use Salesforce for data entry
  • Ability to communicate professionally with participants, staff, and site personnel
  • Ability to recruit participants and support community outreach
